Using the calculator in Oman

An Ibadi calculation method is not implemented or verified here. The calculator offers Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi‘i and Hanbali settings. Choose explicitly; these settings do not represent an Ibadi ruling or approval by an Omani authority.

Add the cash and account balances you include in Omani rials (OMR), without counting the same money twice. Convert holdings in other currencies before entering the combined cash amount; the calculator does not convert each account separately. One rial is divided into 1,000 baisas. For illustration only, 10,000.000 OMR × 2.5% = 250.000 OMR if the relevant conditions are met; this is not a live nisab or an Ibadi ruling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I pay Zakat on my bank account?

Yes. All cash holdings including bank accounts, savings accounts, fixed deposits, and cash on hand are zakatable if the total exceeds nisab for one lunar year.

Is bank interest (riba) subject to Zakat?

The principal amount is zakatable. Bank interest is considered impermissible (riba) and should be purified: given away entirely to charity without expecting reward. Consult your local scholar.

Is an Ibadi calculation method available for Oman?

No. Only the four Sunni school settings are implemented. No school is selected initially for Oman; choose one explicitly if appropriate for you. For Ibadi guidance, consult a qualified local scholar or the official Oman Zakah portal. These external references do not endorse this calculator.

Which nisab does this calculator use?

No basis is preselected for Oman. After selecting a school, check the selected gold (85 g) or silver (595 g) setting in the form. You can change it explicitly. The displayed threshold and result use that selection and available prices in OMR; the calculator compares total wealth with one threshold, not separate metal nisabs.

How are debts treated on this page?

The form applies only the debt setting of the school you explicitly select. No Ibadi debt rule is applied. The selected method and its explanation are shown in the form; consult the methodology and a qualified scholar before including a liability.
